Hi there! Just figured I would throw my thoughts into the mix. As a past member, I think there are parts of truth to some of the things being said. Some alpha gams do gossip but I think in a large chapter you are bound to run into that. Some of the past members talked about how girls would sit around talking about other panhel sister's instagrams but I personally never experienced this or surrounded myself with people who would do things like this. There are little cliques that are close with each other but generally most people are friendly towards one other. I think that all of the sororities have things to work on, including alpha gam. I am genuinely curious about why the influx of low rankings started around the beginning of this year around recruitment. I would be interested to hear your thoughts and opinions about it because I have always wondered what happened!

As a current member I can’t say enough about how much I love my chapter. Our new members are so involved and passionate about chapter which is so heart warming to see (not saying that this is new it’s just even more impressive now that we’re online)! From my personal experience it is a great chapter to belong to and we might steal cats and smell like ham but whatever lol! I love my sisters y’all are great, smart, beautiful, and capable of anything! Hammy squirrels, I love you

Had a great experience with this sorority recently during an exchange. Great bunch of girls. Really laidback and fun. Looking forward to seeing more of them on campus.

My good friend just dropped (that's what the 15th person this year?) and man it did not sound like a good time. Biggest thing she said was just how fake everything is. From constant gossip to literally paying for your friends, it's no wonder why they are not doing well. Please rush any other sorority, just not this one.

It’s important to understand that we are in the middle of a global pandemic. Many of the girls who dropped had to do so because they felt that being in a sorority as well as being a student during these times was just too much for them. I'm not sure what your friend experiences within chapter but there isn't any "constant gossip". Alpha Gam works hard to create an environment that welcomes girls gives them a second family. As for paying for your friends, you have to pay fees for ALL greek organizations, Alpha Gam actually has some of the lowest dues out of all of the groups. Please check yourself and your information before you slander the name of of AGD.

Okay you have some fair points but why is it specifically Alpha Gam that has had such a high drop rate? Like are the girls in the other sororities supposedly much better at balancing things? It's like you said, these things apply to EVERY greek group. Retention rates are a big deal. Even if you recruit 30 girls every year it doesn't matter if half of them drop. As for constant gossip, you are clearly a member of Alpha Gam so you would know best lol. Your members had so much to say about Kappa and DeeGee, so why don't you explain that? As you said, check yourself first sweetie.

I am indeed from Alpha Gam and I apologize that your friend had a negative experience in chapter. But I hope you understand that we are doing our best to ensure that both new members and initiated members have positive experiences and feel as though they are being supported. The way that each chapter deals with member retention varies. Our officer team recently attended academy where we learned about how we can improve remember retention and help our sisters feel more supported. Again for the gossip, I really haven’t heard anything gossipy about the other sororities. I know that I would love to strengthen the connections between our chapters and I really hope that it’s something we’ll be able to work on more this year. I also apologize if I offended you by telling you to check yourself and your facts, I more so meant that in regards to the comment about buying friends.

I'm sorry as well for telling you to check yourself or if I came off as aggressive. I've just heard awful stories and the post from today confirms how some of the girls keep gossiping about the other chapters. Most of the girls in alpha gam are great, but a small portion is poisoning the group. Certain toxic members who keep bad mouthing the others is horrible. Pulling up photos of the other girls and shaming them for their appearance is just disgusting. My friend mentioned the same thing. This group is why so many of your girls have dropped, even if they don't tell you this. If they are still there, alpha gam can not thrive.

I hear that. Again, I am so incredibly sorry that your friend had such a negative experience. I cannot speak to what has happened in the past within our organization as I was not part of it during this time. However, one of the good things about being a new member in a chapter is the opportunity for new growth and change. I want to be able to help repair the damaged relationships between our chapter and others in any way that I can. If you feel would feel comfortable, I would love to make contact with you and learn more about both you and your friend's experience with Alpha Gam, judgement free, and begin to figure out a way that we can create positive change.

I had a great time hanging out with the AGD girls. A lot of them seem really chill and nice, little quiet though. Not sure why other people are trying to tank AGD's reviews.

Member of another Panhellenic sorority here! I think the posts here always start around recruitment time because that’s when we are all advertising the most! And most of the posts are made by people who are not in the sororities themselves. They leave mean comments here, and watch the drama unfold.
