does taking a gap year hurt?

by: sophomore

so i took a gap year to work and figure out what i wanted to do and last year attended community college. im transferring to tamu this year so i’m a sophomore even tho i graduated hs in 2019. i’m a year older than typical sophomores. anyways is that gonna hurt me at all?? i have a lot of friends that are also gonna be sophomores (not at tamu, but just in general.. it’s not like i get along w them any less than frinds my age, who are gonna be juniors)

Well no, it all really depends to be honest, I seen sophomores that went through rush and got their top house or the house they wanted. You should be fine

I don’t think being one year older than other sophomores matters at all. Sophomores and juniors hang out. Most houses those are the years living in the house together. I’m a summer birthday so I’m over a year younger than some of the girls in my pledge class - it’s not something I ever think about.

That said, gap year + community college is a really “non-traditional” pathway into a sorority. I think if you ended up in a situation where you didn’t feel like you connect with other girls it’s prob because you’ve had a little more life experience and might be more mature.
