Recruitment Question
by: HmIs there any tips on how you can get a sorority you want? I’m scared I’ll get adpi or aopi, they don’t seem like the sorority I’ll fit in. Can rec letters help you get the want you want?

With that attitude, you may as well not go through. You have no idea what house you will like and it’s out of your control. There aren’t enough spots in every house which is why we have as many chapters as we do. Recruitment is very competitive. But the best thing you can do is get your rec letters, polish your resume, clean up your social and don’t be a brat.

most houses are focusing more on equity and inclusion so recs letters don’t matter as much, this is true for a lot but especially for chi o and zta, since you are so against being in adpi or aopi you probably shouldn’t rush since sorority’s look for girls who support greek life as a whole

My advice is to be yourself. If you end up with a sorority that you don't feel like you fit in at the end, then you have the option to drop. There are many organizations at A&M. If you know any actives, reach out to them now and ask them what they like best about their sorority, how they knew this was the one for them, etc. Follow ALL sororities on social media. You can get a good idea of what they are like by looking at their posts. Also, find out about their philanthropies and familiarize yourself with them b/c they will talk about them during rush. You might really resonate with one of them. Best of luck.

If you think you won’t “fit in” to two sororities that each have 200-250 members, you need to take a hard look at yourself and why you’re rushing.
We all know what your post means. You’re scared the houses that are known for being top rushing houses are going to cut you and you’re going to end up in what you’ve heard are bottom houses.
What we hear as Greek women is that you think you’re too good to be in a sorority with 450+ of our Panehellenic sisters. You think you’re too good to wear their letters, share their rituals, enjoy their sisterhoods, live in their houses, go to their social events, etc.
My advice to you is to get over yourself before rush starts. Rush humbles almost every PNM at some point. Decide why you want to be in a sorority - for what you perceive as “popularity” in your limited high school worldview? Or because you want to have deep sisterhood bonds, serve others and share experiences that will last through college & far beyond?

Whoever gave this post a thumbs down is a jerk. So are the other replies. When I went through rush I knew I didn't fit in some of the sororities. That's the way it is. Some are right for some people and not others.
