Doesn’t feel right

by: Od

I know it’s only been a week but I feel like I chose the wrong sorority and I don’t really belong or fit in to what I chose. Is that normal

Give it some time! You chose it for a reason! I'm sure you will grow to love your sisters.

Yes!! So normal - and especially this year when nothing is normal. You’ve just spent a week with actives adoring you and wanting to get to know you - and they do - but the reality is that your best friends will be in your pledge class. And the actives will still love you but also go back to their own lives after rush with school, work, campus involvement, etc.

So before you decide to drop, make sure you’re really made the effort to make friends in your pledge class. You got the bid, now it’s time to do the work to show you can be a good friend.

I cannot stress these responses enough!! Most people are not comfortable in their sorority immediately. It takes weeks and even into the spring semester for people to really feel at home. It’s so worth the wait! Make sure you give it your all!

It took me year to “accept” my sorority. I did NOT like my pledge class but I ended up making friends with the girls in the new pledge class the following year. Those girls eventually became my roommates and bridesmaids. I really hated it at first, but I’m so glad I stuck with it.

Stick with it. It took me about a year to really get to know my sisters. Living in the house helps.

If you chose your house based in part on sorority rankings, then your concerns may be valid.

But many people do find their home in their house over time, so you may want to give it a chance. It really depends on the situation.
