So if GPhi, DG, AXO, Theta, AGD, n ChiO are the top houses on campus this year then they definitely will not have to do spring rush!!!

Once in a while every chapter does informal recruitment. Some chapters hide it and that is a pitty. I feel that might make the NM feel as second choices BUT THEY ARE NOT. We love and and want new members to make them feel very welcomed! You will gain so much new input, leadership experience and friends. Please do not miss out this big network

what is wrong doing spring rush? getting new sisters is always exciting!

New sister are great! However the top houses are able to fill their house in the fall and retain members so do not participate in spring rush.

member retention has nothing to do with being a top house... some of the conventional top houses have horrible retention yet don't do spring rush because they think it makes them look bad. spring rush usually has more unconventional pnms so usually the spring rush houses see it as a way to diversify, but that doesn't look good because people rank based on superficial stuff

probably non-freshmen and people who don’t fit the sorority stereotype

Please reconsider and take a breath. If that is your honest opinion of being greek please be aware that you support a toxic stereotype that will lead to to the abyss of UMN greek life. Not everyone is blond tall skinny and „top tier“ but maybe they will be the most involved sisters that can add a lot personality and fun to the chapter and that might end up being your VP membership

no one here is saying that COB or people who don’t fit the mainstream sorority stereotype are bad or less desirable. the whole point is that COB is a great alternative to the shallowness of formal recruitment and allows people to be their genuine selves, so people who don’t fit the “blonde, tall, skinny and “top tier”” thing don’t feel as much pressure to conform. also, some people get really overwhelmed by the formal recruitment process and COB lets them find sisterhood without all the craziness. sororities are about female empowerment and unfortunately ranking based on superficial stuff hurts that goal. people on here usually rank the houses that COB lower just because they COB, when it’s actually a good thing they COB because they welcome girls that know formal recruitment isn’t for them for whatever reason. honestly who knows what the usual ranks on here are based on but rankings SHOULD be based on sisterhood, involvement etc if ranks even exist at all
