What was the difference between Sigs Taus and Beta today from maybe 5-10 years ago historically? Its safe to say none of them are currently living up to the hype of "royal" houses

Beta and Taus have definitely fallen off the "royal" wagon but I think most would still consider sigs as a top 3 house with pikes and sae.

sigs is only top off of reputation/history. Their 17's-19's dont compare to Pike or even SAE

SAE did an organized recruitment of the 13 beta pledge class once they knew beta was getting kicked off so they built off of betas dominance but the 09-12 betas helped recruit who is currently the beta 17s and 18s

I doubt the 09-12's were allowed anywhere near the recruiting process after what they did to piss off nationals. Nationals had a full time guy on campus for an entire year.

Betas supposedly were a mix of athletic, good looking, partiers that had so many connections with alumni they basically did anything they wanted. I heard a story they used to stack mattresses as jump off their balcony for fun back in the day

The 2000-2009 Betas had no connections with alumni, they completely ignored them and did nothing in terms of alumni relations which is why Beta still hasn't gotten a new house and is in such need of money now. If they would've really been that tight with alums, they could've just had Shahid Khan (one of the 500 richest Americans, owner of Jacksonville Jaguars and Class of 1970 Beta alum) to donate at least like $10 mil and it wouldn't be anything to him.

what ever made sigs a top house? They all look average

I think they were the only prominent house that never majorly messed up. And I believe they have a good alumni base. They are also one of the first on campus. So I think it is more consistent strong operations, rather than outwardly impressive guys.
