hey whats up hello
by: TokenSo I'll be transferring to UofI this upcoming semester. I'm a 23 yr old jr who just so happens to be African American if you didn't already guess. I have friends who have raved about the Greek scene on campus and honestly being part of a fraternity has always seemed pretty cool with me including even the hazing. My biggest concern on whether or not I should join a frat on campus is purely based on the fact that I wouldn't get a bid because of my age. I feel that I'm a pretty cool guy and I love to have a good time plus I don't look as old as I really am. And interacting with 18-22 year olds isn't really a huge deal to me and I wouldn't mind being called "Mr. Pledge," every now and then. I guess you could say I'm a bit immature for my age? Anyway I would just like to know would me being 23 be that big of a deal that I wouldn't get a bid? Thanks and please excuse the typos kinda rushed this

Yeah being 23 yrs old wouldn't really be a big deal as long as you're cool and you click with the guys. Even then, some houses will like you and others won't. Youll like some houses and dislike others. I'd say definitely rush and go with the flow. Most houses I know do have an "older guy" in their pledge classes. Maybe not 23, but a few seniors are even 23, so its not totally out of the ballpark. If you were 25+, that's a different story
