wtf is up with dke?

by: ko

Incoming freshmen, and my brother is a DKE at a really strong DKE chapter elsewhere. But how are they here? I haven't heard much about them except that they just started

dke just started here a year ago. Haven't really done anything since they started. Chapter doesn't look feasible given the lack of national support to recruit guys.

DKE is not huge nationally but has some very prestigious individual chapters. They have been at UofI on and off for years, but have never gotten traction for some reason. If I was DKE I would try to have some guys from other schools come here for a weekend to recruit.

Like I said my brother is DKE at a really strong chapter, so I'm a little more inclined to go there, and I don't mind if it's new or smaller, as long as the guys who started it are solid. Can anyone comment on that?

its better to join a fraternity based on where you fit rather than just join the local dke chapter because your brother was in one. Do your impartial research and rush one on its merit. You don't want yourself regretting or self doubting your decision after 2 years when DKE here had to shut down because of lack of vision and support from its national office

Sorry to burst your bubble but DKE is NOT huge nationally. They are only a middle tier national at best.

Still gaining members on this campus, but an awesome group of guys! Super fun to hang out with and genuinely nice people. I hope things work out and they pick up more members.

I know a lot of guys in ΔΚΕ and think they know a lot of girls in ΠΒΦ, ΑΟΠ, and ΑΔΠ.

I've been to their parties since the start of the year. I'm in pi phi. They use apartments now but have senior houses for next year.

My friend just helped start it this year, so they're pretty new. Just starting out so if you want to leave a legacy and impact on campus they're a good way to go. Chill guys with a strong genuine brotherhood. However, the downside is they're still working on their rep and making an impact. I like their parties and vibe so I'll be rushing them next year.

i heard they started last year, same time as Beta and Pilam. Why are the other two (beta at 100 and pilam at like 40) with so many more members than DKE? Is DKE trying to grow? What are their year distributions also? Are most sophomores?

beta and Pilam literally had their nationals on campus for a complete semester and hand out bids. As per what I heard Pilam is having their nationals come again next semester and hand out 20 bids. Dke really hasn't had their nationals doing much. Thus they falling behind.

The only way to really find out is to get out there and rush. Check out DKE, and if it's a good fit you pledge but also take the time to see other houses and find where you fit in.

Sorry, I'm looking for the traditional fraternity experience, so I'm going to pass on DKE.

Bûłłshít colony. Is too desperate to give bids. Is blatantly throwing rush parties ( with alcohol. Risky business!). Don't see them becoming too successful in the future
