richest alumni ?

by: sittinplush

I've heard from a few old-timers (uncles & aunties etc.) that Phi Delts, Sigma Chi and Sigma Nu have the wealthiest alumni. Not just "dentist rich" but several truly loaded industrial giants and billionaire entrepreneurs.

What is it about the DNA of these houses that perpetuates this?

It's a coincidence. And your uncles and aunts are also wrong, ATO, Beta, and Sigs have the wealthiest alumni. Doesn't really mean anything.

Illinois ATO alumni seem to gravitate toward sales jobs (insurance, automobile, pharmaceutical, printers/copiers).....and bank VP's (not presidents).......

Basically, careers that rely upon lots of "backslapping" and little real decision making or genius akin to leading organizations, practicing medicine or exploring for oil.......

It's always been this way for Illinois ATO's and probably will always be..........

it does mean something. do you not see how ato's alumni save them everytime from getting kicked off? it's cause they donate money to the school, and they keep donating millions to the chapter to make the physical house even better when it probably doesnt even need it.

phi delts had the ceo of goldman sachs. ato has a few ceo's of banks too from what I seen on their website like belmont bank. sig chi's website sucks so i dont know about their alumni at all. beta has the dude who owns the jaguars and something else huge.

so wealthiest I'd say are ATO, Beta, and Phi Delt.

But there does seem to be a correlation between rich alumni & beautiful physical houses.

ATO, Betas, Phi Delts, Sigma Nu and Sigma Chi still reside in their original century-old houses.

This comes from rich alumni bail outs during the occasional declines every house goes through in 25 years cycles.....The Betas of today were the ATOs of yesteryear etc.....

Most other frats can't say this.

Billionaires and the University of Illinois are an oxymoron.

Ivy league schools and maybe Northwestern.

Every once in a while some jackass comes on here talking about how SN is so powerful. First of all, every house on campus has some prominent alumni - this is UofI after all. One of the richest men in America was in Alpha Sigs (Marc Andreesen), for example. I am not an Alpha Sig, but hey that's a fact. Beta has Shahid Khan, multibillionaire who actually lives in Urbana.

SN is not one of the wealthiest houses, not even close, so can we give that a rest? I would probably say ATO, Delts, Sigs, maybe Betas. And every house can point to at least some wealthy and prominent people.

What matters most is alumni support.

By the way, ATO and SN houses are not century-old. They were built in the mid-1930's, I believe. Not sure about the age of the other houses you mentioned.

why would you not pledge ato if youre a legacy, that's like a guarantee you wouldnt get dropped...

ato has a lot of alumni since they've been around forever, i dont know if they have billionaires but certainly quite a few millionaires.

How would anyone even know which house has the wealthiest alumni ?

Would the "King Frats" try to perpetuate this idea ?

Similar to the "Big Hat, No Cattle" lifestyle of many who try to act out a perception of success while being "up to their neck in debt?"

Phi Delt has the most congressional Alumni and the founders of some pretty large corporations like Marriott and Tyson and the owners of four NFL teams. Absolutely they are one of the most wealthiest fraternities.

Who does ATO have? Two congressmen, ever? Be real.
