how serious is sorority rush here? recs needed?

by: admitted

Does that depend on the tier? Or is submitting recs generally something recommended? Is this one of these places where you'd even exceed one rec per sorority?

You don't have to have them, but they don't hurt. I'm kinda quiet and from out of state so I think they helped me. Most sororities will ask back to first invite everyone that has a rec. I had a rec for 2 of the 3 houses I preffed. I ended up in a middle house and I love it!! I will say, don't get caught up in the top tier stuff just because you have a rec. After open house I knew I didn't like a few of the "top" houses, but I figured I'd get invited back because of the recs. I put them I the bottom. I didn't want to waste my time at a house that would very likely cut me next round that I didn't like anyway.

Out of state hurts you?

I don't think it hurts to be out of state, it's just that no one knows you and the rec can be helpful. Just be prepared for the "why did you come here" question 50 times a day. I love it here though.....people are nice and the campus is beautiful.
