snap bid advice

by: Listen

If a sorority calls you offering a snap bid you should consider it. Take the opportunity to join their bid day and feel it out. If you hate it, just leave! You are not obligated to accept the bid right there and then. Rushing is a tough process but don’t give up so easily, give every opportunity a chance!

You ARE obligated to accept there and then. They are snapping to try to get to quota and they need to know if you don't want it so they can move on to someone else and fill that new member spot. They must move fast and so must the pnm. That's why they are called SNAP BIDS!

No. I dropped during recruitment two years ago, got called for a snap bid and told them I couldn’t make a decision right away so they invited me to their bid day and I still declined the bid. You have the power to make your decision. If you get called for a snap bid take the time to talk with the person extending it to you. No girl should be that rushed to make a decision.

You have 24 hours to accept a snap bid before it expires. Sororities try to get their snaps out as soon as possible for this reason, because they need to know if they can move on and offer another snap if one is declined.

PNM's are not allowed to sit on a Snap Bid. The sorority needs to fill their quota before bids are opened so an immediate answer is required. If a bid is declined then the sorority immediately moves on to the next person on their snap bid list. There is no time to feel it out; you either accept and go to bid day, or you don't.

Have snap bids already been sent out/offered today?

Yes but there aren't that many snap bids and they aren't made public by the sororities or panhellenic. You would only know if you were offered one or know someone who was and they told you. Honestly most sorority members don't know who gets a snap bid; everyone just shows up together for bid day.
