is igu as bad as this site makes it seem?

Greek rank is a toxic wasteland that gives a muddied interpretation of greek life at UMass. Instead, you should make a decision based on personal experience by rushing. And no, IGU is pretty chill and not looked down upon in the real world.

Greekrank is a joke, and the sorority/fraternity ranking pages are even bigger jokes as anyone can post on them. The percentage rankings you see don't matter.

Rush and decide on which sorority fits you best. That's what Rush week is all about. Maybe it's IGU, maybe it's another sorority. UMass sororitys generally aren't toooooo uptight (With the exception of KKG and maybe SK, who are more-Southern type sororitys).

IGU is not looked down upon, but they are still considered a low tier sorority when it comes to actually comparing them to others like SK.

They’re just kind of known as the sorority for your not that typical sorority girl because they’re not a typical sorority. Definitely don’t have the most hot girls or anything but I would probably still rank them above Tri-Sig and AXO as far as complete sorority functions go. Also have parties at there house every once in a while and it’s a pretty unique environment that’s different because they’re the only sorority that can.

IGU has had its ups and downs over time but they have been getting better and better in recent years so don't let greek rank trolls turn you off. You really have to experience sororities for your self. Take the time to do research outside of this site and explore sororities you're interested in by their philanthropys, webpages and actual social media. Greek rank isn't credible all the time as you can tell by all the crazy spam hate towards AXO. All of the sororities at UMass have something great to offer to the greek community.

although they are not know to be the best looking sorority they are the one of the more fun ones to mix with. Throw rangers in they’re house and aren’t stuck up.

greek rank posts are honestly from people basing them on past reputations. Theyre pledge classes keep getting hotter and they can throw down at their house. most frats will mix with them especially because if their suspended they can host them at their house. they go nuts with booze and while idk what its like among the girls they are definitely a fun and rowdy crowd that love to turn up and go hard

Most posts shouldn't be taken seriously here. The site makes it look like Greek life hates itself in general. Go and meet the sisters of all sororitys and see which is best for your taste.
