rush
by: Freshmen guySo I didn't like my options with fraternities this semester. I was given bids to fraternities that I don't necessarily want to join, and not given bids to fraternities I do want to join. Is it a mistake to wait until next semester and re-rush the fraternities I didn't get a bid too? Will it be harder cuz they already said no? Thanks

don't join a house you don't want to. But, if you didnt get a bid from a house this semester, it was probably for a reason (unless you just didnt meet that many people, or none of the guys on the rush committe). Its up to you, but if you weren't noticed by a house this time, you probably won't be again and they may even wonder why you're back again.

Even if you're not going to rush the same fraternities again, don't accept the bid if you do not want to sincerely join. It is not a bad idea to take a semester to look around again and meet more guys. There are plenty of guys who join their sophomore or junior years, you will not feel any different from people who joined as a freshman. Don't just join a fraternity because you want to be a part of Greek life, join it because you like the specific fraternity.

Rush the same place if you want, but do not solely rush there again. Numbers usually arent that important. One guy wont ruin a chapters numbers. Many recruitment chairs use that as an excuse so he doesn't have to tell the pnm that he wasn't well liked by the fraternity. If they genuinely liked you odds are they would've given you a bid. Definitely check out different fraternities if you are going to rush again.
