gpa
by: PnmSo my gpa ended up being a 2.9, is that going to get me cut from a lot of houses? If so, which ones besides theta?

You'll get cut from chi o, their minimum is a 3.0. It just will make rush a little harder, you need to make yourself stand out and be an idea PNM. Chapters still take girls with 2.9 but you need to be a package and bring something else to the table or really click with girls in the chapter

Depending on how many each house must cut the first round, you might be cut. Lets say a chapter has to cut 500 the first round (each chapter is told how many they can invite back based on return rates from the past 3 years). Before they start ranking girls, they will go through the girls to automatically cut before ranking them. Here is a hypothetical situation.
The 1st step is to cut below the GPA of 2.7 but only 100 PNMs are below that. They still need to cut 400.
The 2nd step might be to release Juniors/Seniors but only 25 are. They still need to cut 375.
The 3rd might be to ask which girls have questionable reputations and members give 50 names. Now they need to cut 325 more.
The 4th step might be to cut the girls that came in with bad recs from Alums and that number might be 25. Now they need to cut 300 more.
The 5th step might be to cut girls that none of the members found were not a good fit, and maybe that number is 150. Now they need to cut to 150.
So at this point, maybe there are a few more steps they hit before starting to go through their membership selection process and they decide to cut either cut X number sophomores or cut grade risks. This could be where you fall in since some chapters look for the majority of their PC to be above their chapter GPA (most are 3.30+). Many look at grade risks being below 3.0.
This is a simplistic version but gives you an idea of what might happen to you at top and mid tier chapters who must cut more after Round 1.
