only want to go to 2 of 3 houses i pref'd

I don't want to go to the last house on my list. I love my #1 choice, and I'd be fine with my #2 choice. I love the girls in both houses and could really see myself in either. But, I absolutely don't want #3. I'd like to leave myself open to a snap bid. I'm hearing I shouldn't do this and I don't understand.
