Quota was lower this year and not just because of fewer pnms. Top houses are only taking 80 not 100 like before and all the other houses fewer. Everyone is housed so cuts were brutal. Reputation and grade cuts were especially harsh this year.

No house have cuts for gpa. Top 5 house cut at 3.4 and below, not many will take any 3.0 at all.

I think PNM’s are confusing the policy of guaranteeing bids to PNM’s who maximize their options on Pref Night with guaranteed bids. No, unfortunately the “system” is not set up so that everyone who signs up for rush and meets basic criteria is guaranteed a bid. Sororities are private organizations and cannot be forced to take members. Arkansas has been long known as a rush where many PNM’s withdraw or are dropped completely. It’s one of the most brutal rushes in the whole country. Not much had changed there except for variable quota being put in place to help even out chapter sizes.
The only point in rush at which a PNM is guaranteed a bid is if she is invited to Pref and ranks every Pref house on her bid card (no “suiciding”). Chapters know if they invite you to Pref they must put you on their bid list somewhere and even if both chapters have met quota before you bid match, you will be placed in one of your Pref houses as a Quota Addition. That is what “maximizing your options” means as far as guaranteed bids.

You can try COB! If you know girls in the chapter they may be able to get you in. There are also so many different organizations you can get involved in. I wasn’t in Greek life my freshman year and didn’t feel like I was missing out. AGD is supposedly coming next year and if they do you can go through their process. Don’t be discouraged! Meet some fun girls on your floor and make yourself busy. The year will turn around 💗

All houses have the numbers that they could all do COB. There are a few that lie about their numbers so they don’t have to do it. Crazy alums with no life make sure of that.

I’ve known girls in your position who went out of their way to get involved on campus and prove to themselves and the houses that cut them how wonderful they are. And guess what....they ARE wonderful and amazing. Even if you don’t get a COB, you are valuable and have a place on campus. You will be stronger for forging your own path.

After freshman year gl sux. Girls lie and make up excuses to get out of work week and rush. It stops being fun after first semester. You buy tshirts and go to a meeting once a month that is gl for almost every person in gl. Go to insta page of junior senior girl and most sophomores you won’t see pictures of sorority functions after bid day.

You must really hate your house but this is absolutely not true for my chapter. Seniors come to lots of functions, pep rallies, recruitment, chapter weekly. Guess your chapter is just dull

Join clubs, get to know your hallmates (in Greek life and not) and be involved in your classes! You’ll still make plenty of friends and have a great college experience. And if you still want to join a sorority, contact the Greek Life office in the next few months about COB, which typically happens in the spring for chapters that aren’t at quota.

It’s when some houses take girls after bid day if they don’t meet their quota or if girls drop, it stands for continuous open bid

It seems like a strange year. Crazy that 3 were lost. Truly.
I’m hoping snaps/cob goes your way. And for the other pnms who slipped thru. I am sure there are girls in the houses wondering where you are. Most girls do not know where cuts fall. Please take care of yourself.

Some houses (if they don’t make quota) will email PNMs that dropped out or didn’t get a bid. They will ask to get together with you and get to know you better. They will do it a couple days/weeks after Bid Day. In 2017 I know at least two houses did it. Don’t know what will happen this year. Good luck!!!

My gamma chi said last year DG took everyone even girls they didn’t want since they didn’t have a house but this year they do and are being very selective so there’s no fall back house. Also if bottom houses didn’t think you were happy to be there they cut you over girls who seemed happier. Think she was a DG.

Some people like to spread information they know nothing about to seem like they know things. DG didn’t take everyone just like this year and every year in the past, there were lots of girls who didn’t receive bids or were dropped entirely. Like someone else said, sororities are private organizations who get to choose who they take.
I do agree that each house is being more selective this year.

I can 110% tell you that is wrong about DG. They only took 50% of the women who rushed when they colonized and they made cuts last year too. DG nationally has high standards for grades, requires a rec to bid, and has some strong willed alumnae making sure this chapter succeeds.
Even if your gamma chi was a DG (doubtful - also doubtful any gamma chi would disparage any chapter), unless she was in the room with the Rush Chair, Rec chair, and rush advisor - she would have absolutely zero knowledge of who was cut and who cut them.

There are houses cutting pnms over a pnm having the same dress as another girl back in high school.
