brotherhood and sisterhood

by: miz16

How can anyone accurately rank brotherhood and sisterhood when they have not experienced that fraternity or sorority's pledgeship and ritual? It makes no sense when sorority girls and guys from other fraternities try to comment on a house's brotherhood, sisterhood, or pledgeship. Who are you to say a fraternity does not have a pledgeship? Also, who are you to say a sorority lacks sisterhood? DO you live in that house and observe their daily interactions? Pledgship, rituals, and brotherhood/sisterhood are unique to each house and cannot be ranked until you've experienced each one ourself.

you can rank sisterhood easily based on the retention of their members. If girls are dropping all the time, there are loyalty issues in the house. plain and simple.

This is a valid point but there definitely are frats that are known for having absolutely terrible pledgeships. Those are the same houses that seemingly have a better brotherhood. The guys I know in those houses seem to be closer than the ones in houses with easier pledgeships. That's how they get those reputations

You're missing the point of brotherhood if you really care what people say about it on this site.

^^^^^^^ So true. Retention for the most part means nothing because even the best houses and the best sisterhoods lose a few girls for random reasons, like finances or time commitments or whatever. But at the end of the day, I agree what matters most is what's in your heart and whether you truly think of someone as a sister, or just a friend for the moment.
