favoritism?

It seems to me that there is a blatant favoritism for/against certain sororities/fraternities when it comes to receiving campus and institutional accolades - has anyone else noticed this?

Or is it just that sorority/fraternity members in leadership roles just continue to nominate and reap awards on their own members, whether they are the most deserving?

Or perhaps one's Greek letters predispose those the person whether they are fully considered (or not)?
