Transferring and worried about greek housing

by: TuscaTransfer

I'm transferring to bama and will be rushing in the fall but am a little worried about housing. I noticed a lot of the dorm spaces have been taken by freshman, but i was a little unsure of how sororities decide who lives in and who doesnt. As a transferring sophomore, would I be moving into the sorority house if i receive a bid? Or should i look into an apartment?

The sorority house is probably full. You’d at least need a place for the fall semester and maybe something opens up. Sophomores get apartments here.

You wouldn’t be able to live in the house this year, since the girls who live in house would’ve all signed their contracts in the spring. You could live in house next year if you wanted to. If you signed up for housing, you’ll be assigned a space, it just might not be in your top choice dorm since all that’s open currently are traditional style, but people will drop out over the summer so you never know if you’ll get lucky and get assigned a nicer dorm. Regardless, you won’t be left homeless. As long as you applied for housing you’ll live SOMEWHERE on campus. They won’t run out of space, and even if they somehow did, the school has signed contracts with the lofts and other apartments occasionally in the past for overflow if needed
