what is really the deal with rush? some ppl make it sound like if you care about your social life but don't get C4 or SDT you might as well drop. is that really true?

if clout/status is most important you will want c4 over all. we can debate about whether they deserve it or not, but they have the most.

if you just care about having a very full social schedule (events thurs/fri/sat every week) then c4 and sdt all have that. azd and piphi usually do too. probably every sorority has at least 1-2 mixers on a weekend, but the lower srats may get worse attendance at mixers or have things canceled on them more. all srats have date nights and formals too.

if you want to mix with the most houses, some c4 isn't best for that. aphi/dg very selective and mix with very few houses. theta and kappa mix with more. sdt prob mixes with the most different houses and azd mixes with a lot of sports teams in addition to frats.

TLDR - don't drop give it a chance all houses are social to a certain degree. plus, friendships count for a lot and you can get that in any house.

The answer above is really honest. Just to add, by mid sophomore year a lot of girls are tired of the same srats/frats mixing every single weekend. It gets old. Attendance falls off. It’s really more of a freshman/sophomore thing. What remains long after that are your friends and, for those still involved, a lot of other fun activists like the date nights and events- which all houses have. So don’t stress too much either way about the mix sched. Find the place that feels right to you & give it a chance. Don’t worry about clout, it’s stupid. Have fun and get to know new people. Good luck!

Everyone is going to tell you to join where you feel most comfortable and where you feel like you fit in. Not everyone listens to that though. You may think you're above that advice and join the highest "ranked" sorority you can get into. But please keep in mind that a bid doesn't mean you'll automatically be accepted by these girls socially. A lot of people go into their sororities with a friend group, intentional or not, and ALL sororities are cliquey, due to the nature of the large MCs. Joining a sorority is one of the best parts of my Cornell experience but when it comes down to it, maybe I (and a lot of other girls) could've been been a bit happier in a sorority that I felt more aligned to instead of chasing a status. This isn't meant to scare any freshmen, if you feel good talking to the girls during the rounds then obviously join wherever, but if things feel wrong and you're purely just joining for the status it isn't going to take you as far as you think.

thank you for this honesty. ive heard that in certain srats if you aren't in the one big friend group that rushes together then it can be really hard. i heard this most about c4 are there other srats that are like that?
