Trust your gut after pref

by: Gut Check

Trust your gut after pref. Where would you be comfortable? It's all about relationships. You want yo be surrounded by people who bring out the best in you & where you could most contribute. Academics, socializing, philanthropy, & just plain fun! Where do you feel "at home"? Where your sister felt at home at UGA may not be Where you feel at home. The srat that supposedly has the most socials & with what frats may not be the srat Where you feel at home. Ultimately, what girls are most similar to you in their values, goals, behavior, idea of the right mix of fun & the more serious stuff? HUMANS BECOME A LOT LIKE THOSE THAT THEY SURROUND THEMSELVES WITH. Know who you are.

At pref, look around at the other pnm's; a lot of these girls will comprise your new member class. This is the group you will be closest with and that will make or break your sorority experience, not so much the older girls who are rushing you. Ask yourself if you feel like you belong with these other pnm's, going through everything together for the next four years and beyond. The older members set the tone, but they already have their close friend groups from among their own new member classes. You will be forming your own within yours.

This is very true and something pnms would be wise to take into consideration. Do you actually feel at home in that old row sorority? Or do you just think that you should choose them because they are “better”? Old row at uga basically in a nutshell means richer, from nicer families, and more socially connected. It has nothing to do with how nice, how pretty, how smart the girls are. While going through rush go with your gut. Where do you feel at home and comfortable? Do you see yourself fitting in with the girls standing in line with you? Good luck to everyone going through recruitment soon!

There is no old row. Just stop. You don't even know what "nicer families" or "more socially connected" even means. Seriously wtaf. Stay off if you don't go here.

Every sorority has girls that have money. They all have nice families. But the overall sentiment of going with your gut and where you feel comfortable is true.

Old row thinks they represent girls who are “richer” and from “nicer families”, but the sorority members are literally 19 year olds. They probably don’t know their own family’s finances, and they definitely don’t know which PNM comes from money or a nice family.
Anyone joining a sorority is rich enough, and every house has a wide range of wealth.
Old row is just a fake way to pretend you are better.
PNMs should go meet friends and pick the house where you feel most comfortable. No house is better, we are all just young women going to college.
