fall rush 2015
by: incoming freshmanSo I had a buddy of mine tell me that rush has been changed at A&M, but he didn't know how.. anyone know what changed from rush last fall?

There will be no dirty rush all of rush will be during gig em week with no parties. It's designed to give the lower tiers a chance to become a middle tier. A&M has gone to long without a middle tier it has been the big seven(KA, SAE, FIJI, Sigma Chi, Beta, Delt, Sig Ep) and then a huge drop off. There will still be summer events like barges and float trips as long as they are out of town. This will also give a&m a chance to have a big party week like row week at arkansas the week after gig em week.

I think that was the intent but I don't think it'll turn out that way. The "big 7” (is that a thing now?) who have larger alumni bases in big cities are just going to host parties in the summer or have rush parties still but on some alumni's land/ranch and say it's not a fraternity event, just a private party hosted by an alumnus.

If there's no more rush parties won't that hurt lower tiers more then help them? If there's no chance for rushees to spend real time with actives outside of formal rush and figure out who they fit with then I feel like everyone would simply try and pledge the "toppest tier" frat they can get a bid from. Personally I see this creating a bigger gap, with the traditional top chapters reaping the benefits. Might help the guys closer to middle tier like Delt and Sigma Chi, but the lower tiers are going to get even more left out
