Gphi mile time??
by: Incoming PnmI’m rushing in the fall, and I’ve heard some rumors that you can only get a bid from gphi if your mile time is under 8 mins. I’ve heard it’s because they are very involved with their philanthropy and want to be good role models for their girls on the run. Does anyone know if this is true? I was really interested in this house but now I’m not so sure.

hi!! that is absolutely not true. our philanthropy is girls on the run ( a running club to support local girls emotionally and physically) and you do not have to run an 8 minute mile to support them :) we go out to the races, coach, some choose to run with them- totally up to you, write them nice cards and love notes, and more!

So yeah this is definitely false. I rushed in the spring and was never asked this question. Yes it is great if you can like it is important to stay active but it is not a requirement. To those saying its not true because gphi girls couldn't even run that much is also false. Multiple girls I'm friends with in gphi just trained and ran a marathon along with many of the other girls who are in intense sports, such as waterpolo.

When I rushed they asked me for fun bc I brought up that I did track and the girl that was rushing me said she did too. I maybe you took it out of context? I got dropped from their recruitment XD but fr they do have a lot of athletic/healthy girls imo. Not my vibe though i’m a burger and fries kinda girl :))
I ran home to a good house regardless. Be yourself girls! Don’t be like all the other girls!

Saying that Gphi requires you run an 8 minute mile because of their philanthropy is like saying that you have to have gotten a mammogram to be in ZTA or be an ex Girl Scout to be in KD. Yes each house is dedicated to their respective philanthropy, no each girl does not have to exemplify or represent it in such a way to get a bid. I’m not too sure how their coaching and 5k work but from what I understand (correct me if I’m wrong) the race is more about encouraging the girls involved instead of training them to be fast or “in shape”.

we are very dedicated to our philanthropy, but there are many other ways to support. I promise, we don’t ask for your mile time haha
