Frats vs mens orgs

by: pnm

Seems like frats are kind of small at A&M as compared to sororities, looks like about half the numbers. Why is this? Is it due to the hazing mentioned in a previous post? Wondered if it was because there are so many mens orgs competing for pnms. AMC seems really sharp and several others. I hear the better sororities mix with mens orgs a lot. It’s just unique to be such a big school and not have a fully developed frat system. Thoughts?

the corps and frats have a long history that generally explains why frats tend to be smaller. long story short since the corps is predominately male, frats just tended to be smaller and were pushed off campus.

mens orgs def play somewhat of a role, but the issues with the corps when the frats were first being established kinda started the problems.

I think TAMU wants to create a system that prevents hazing. Also Mens/Womens orgs offer the same brotherhood as frats/sororities with much less dues!
