PKT connections matter

by:

If you want city connections, go pi phi, kappa or theta. These are the alum networks you want.

i know PTK is a big southern thing especially at schools like UT, SMU, etc. but it’s totally different here. all of those houses are mid/ bottom tier.

what like byx?? yea i’m sure they’d love a theta. yes these names are strong nationally and have great alumna, im not arguing that. however, specifically at a&m they aren’t the best chapters socially

Depends on what is considered “social” in your world. Drunk hookups with low value males, or fun parties and events with guys from families who have clout.

News flash not all influential people are/were in Greek life, actually most aren’t.

the zeta /dg crew hates to admit it, but it’s true. As a senior planning to work in Dallas after graduation, I see how important it is. You get internship opportunities this way, invitations to deb parties, letters of recommendation for grad school, etc. all through your sisters’ connections

This is really only true if you are going into some type of business, but if your pre-med, pre-vet, pre-dent etc, no one really cares. If you were involved that’s all that matters on those kind of applications.

you are very naive if you think a rec letter from an influential person won’t help you get in to law school

and just for the record, “city” means within 20 minutes of downtown. For example, Addison is not in Dallas, cypress is not Houston, etc

Coming from a recent graduate, it’s more about having been Panhellenic period. Most women, especially older alumna, get excited when talking to younger sorority women, especially if you get involved with your local Panhellenic Alumna group and your local sorority alumna group. You realize, just like in college, these older women also have or had lots of friends in XYZ sorority. Or their daughter became an ABC at such and such university or their niece just pledged MNOP at this other school. Don’t let all the “PKT” hype get in your head. And for that matter, don’t worry about tiers. It’s irrelevant.

Realize that when you join your alum group after college, it’s not just a bunch of older ladies, though they are wonderful. It’s recent grads your age from other schools : ut, vandy, uva, tcu, smu, etc. so keep that in mind. You’re getting to know your sisters from all over.
