Well no one gets cut from pref exactly. They rank girls and a big park of the ranking is if the girl said she was preffing them. Girls that make it clear they will be preffing them will likely get bumped up in the rating. Girls they’re unsure of will get bumped down. If someone told an active that day/night that you were considering the other house they would’ve bumped you down. Or maybe they just didn’t rank you very high because they wanted other girls and all those girls they ranked higher than you preffed them. Also, sororities are required to list legacies first, so if they had a lot of legacies you could’ve been bumped down.

Every group is different, but they all essentially make a list ranking everyone that came to pref from 1 to the end. If you attended pref, you are on the bid list. However, sometimes quota get filled before they get to your name on the list. If you were at pref, it is because they loved you. If you didn’t get matched it is just because there weren’t enough spaces.

Membership selection is private and unique to each group. Some don’t even vote after pref. Their bid list ranking is set after sisterhood. Some use a points system where is it so regulated that individuals can’t move a person up or down in the order. Some have rules regarding legacy placement. Others do not.

You didn’t get cut after pref. There were just girls ahead of you in the matching.

I’m so sorry you didn’t get your first choice but just so you know how Pref works, you absolutely were not cut after Pref. Every pnm who is invited to / accepts Pref invitation is on the bid list somewhere. Unfortunately, the chapter made quota before your name came up on the bid list. That’s why you didn’t get a bid. Other girls were higher on their list or they had a huge % of their first list all rank them 1st.
