Effect of zoom rush

by:

What’re yalls thoughts on the effect of zoom rush? I think it’s really helped mid tier sororities. When I went through rush, I had NO idea about the ranks of houses and barely new any actives. I also had never come to this site. But I could still get a sense of where the houses lined up because walking into the house has a certain feel to it. Looking at the girls, the decorations, the way they interacted, what they wore, how they changed, etc etc really told just as much to me as the conversations I had. There’s just a certain feeling when you walk into house. Anyways, all that to say, I think zoom really evens the playing field on that and puts all the focus on conversation and we’re going to see middle tier sororities and bottom tier really compete with top more than ever. Obviously top still has their reputation and will do well with girls that know about ranks coming in, but for those who don’t, you may see some chose non top houses.

Yep. I can vividly remember the feeling of walking into DG, zeta and tridelt. There was something that very obviously set them apart and as I left I knew “those are top houses” I didn’t feel it in other houses even when I had better convos in other houses.

In the end it’s the relationships and connections that are built that matter. I think it’s great because you can have meaningful conversations and actually hear the girls. Decorations go up and come down. Would you not go to a friends house or be their friend if you didn’t like the way they decorated their personal space?

Unfortunately I think there is a disadvantage of not getting to experience what you’re talking about. For me, my final few houses were basically indistinguishable in terms of conversation. I remember I had zeta, tridelt, theta, DG and kappa as my “final 5” in my head. And I tried really really hard to pref based on conversation but it was nearly impossible. All the convos were great and none really stood out over the other. What did stand out was the “vibe” you’re talking about. And it wasn’t necessarily that I knew one house was better than the other, but I could see what they were like. I could see who cared the most about decorations, who got the most dressed up, who chanted the loudest, who looked most interested when there was a presentation, etc. I was easily able to decide who I fit in with most based off of factors that had nothing to do with conversation.
