honest pnm question

I am a sophomore thinking about going through recruitment. I have a 4.0 gpa, super involved on campus especially church, and had an internship this summer. The thing is I’m a POC, I’m definitely not like “Barbie” or “sorority girl pretty” like the “type” of girl posted on a majority of the instagrams, and I don’t have any connections. Should I even bother rushing? I know connections play a heavy role so I’m kind of on the edge here. Please no hate, any advice would be helpful though!

yes do rush!! even if you don’t have a ton of connections as long as you can connect with the girls when you talk to them you should be good!! and if you really do have a 4.0 and are super involved i wouldn’t be worried :)

girl yes!! for sure rush, i promise you will be surprised at how many houses look for gpa and involvement specifically (mine being one of them!!!) and as far as instagram goes sorority’s don’t have a lot of diversity and it’s hard for them to post diverse girls if they just don’t really have them bc a lot of girls who are poc are intimidated to rush bc of the stigma surrounding sororities but the house i’m in is really trying and looking at ways to change that and i know other houses are too, plus sorority life is so rewarding on so many different levels
