recommendation letters

is it required to get a rec letter for each house to get in a sorority?

some will require it and some won’t. i would recommend getting at least one for all of the chapters so that they at least have some info on you before you go in

chi o will not even look at you if you don’t have a rec other houses have similar policies or only take a small handful without recs, i think more desperate houses won’t be as strict, BUTT ask your mom to post on her FB for you asking for recs and i promise you’ll get most if not all

Not true, KD requires it. You can look at a chapter’s national website to see policies for each. It’s safer to just have a letter for each house to avoid being cut off the bat!

You probably had a rec and didn’t know it. Sometimes teachers, etc will write & send them in if they adore you and you didn’t ask them. I found out after I pledged my legacy that a mom I babysat for had also written a rec for me. I had no clue she was even in my sorority and my mom’s sorority sisters had written my main recs. Kinda weird but it happens

There are several houses on campus that have a national rec policy - ie, you must have one to pledge. And they aren’t all “top” chapters.

Better to get one for every chapter than have an easy reason for anyone to release you.

On the tamu Panhellenic zoom, they said recs weren’t required this year. Is that not true?

Panhellenic can say that but each chapter is a private organization with their own membership selection rules. Panhellenic can’t force chapters to ignore their national policies.
