without a rec letter the sororities see you as a blank slate and know nothing. rec letters, especially this year, are extremely important so srats know more about you and can make decisions

1 rec is perfectly ok. If the sorority requires “letters of support” your main rec writer will ask you who is doing your LOS so she can send everything to the house together.

The most important thing about recs is that someone who knows you well writes them. It’s more important for a good friend’s mom or a mom you’ve babysat for for years or an advisor of your big extracurricular to write your rec than someone you barely know who is super connected in the sorority. You want GREAT recs, not recs that merely pass on information about you.

The difference between a rec PNM and a no rec PNM? Some chapters’ nationals require a rec to pledge so no rec means you’re getting cut. Some chapters are so desirable duding rush they have to use simple ways to cut mass amounts of women after open house - GPA & recs are the easiest to cut for.

IMO, recs will be incredibly important this year since chapters won’t meet their pledge class until Bid Day. They will want to lean on actives who personally know PNM’s and recs more heavily this year.
