I feel like freshman year girls make a judgement about each sorority and then as they get older they realize that there isn’t really a “type” and all Greek girls are really pretty similar. It’s about the individual choices you make along the way that’s important and not which one you join.

Of course Freshman care more about their own "tribe" because there is very little to define them as first years. They haven't joined any other organizations and don't have any other friend circles, so their sorority becomes their identity. In fact, Greek Life encourages this by having us wearing our affiliations on our chest in giant neon letters and buttons on our backpacks while encouraging the competition in grades and fundraising.

I agree, looking down on other sororities is not cool, but if it weren't sorority affiliation, you'd also find many others looking down on you for not being a Business Honors or Engineering major or being from a small town or the suburbs. You have 10,000 people who grew up ages 1-18 amongst roughly the same type of people, and now they're trying to make their own small tribe of like-minded people.
