But now they're off after a year, only time will tell if the probation actually hurt them or not. They've been under a rock all year so it's kind of hard to know what their chapter looks like

They got al caponed. The school knew they did all kinds of things that were against the rules and finally got a legitimate reason to investigate them when a girl got taken to the hospital from KAMO. No proof that KA did anything wrong in the situation, but the investigation led to the school looking at their finances and learning how many things they do off the books. Every fraternity does this and the school normally pretends not to notice (No fraternity tailgates use money raised from dues? Gimme a break) but this was their chance to punish KA for other things they couldn't prove.
