character

So lots of top sororities here are based on a small place you're from & not on your character or how much you reach out to others around you? Interesting.

That's so silly. Ya they all take girls form certain areas because most of their members are form that area and want the girls they know. The top houses get some of the most wonderful girls. As do all the houses. Stop putting others down to feel better about your house.

Truth! It matters where you went to school or what camp you went to....and not all of them are "nice" girls. The most genuine and sweet girls I know are in a so called lower house.

Of course it matters where you went to school and what camp your from because if you got to meet girls in those sororities of course they'll pull for you if they liked you. Just like lower tier sororities pull for girls they know? Wtf. That's literally stupid. The difference is the top tier get the girls that they pull for so the take girls form certain areas every year and from camps and so on. Y'all do the EXACT same thing but just don't get the girls you want.

It shouldn't matter where you went to school or what camp you went to. Keep insulating yourself with the same people. So the phrase: no new friends : applies to these houses. Yay for diversity. Smh.

How tf did you get into a&m if you can't understand this simple concept: it's not the fact that you went to a certain school or camp it's that you KNOW the people in these top tier sororities because they went there too. And those girls got in because the girls older than them went to the same school or group and so on. After you take one girl from nowhere Texas then that girls will probably pull for another girl from their home town. And so the cycle continues. If a girl comes out of a town a top sorority usually recruits from but no one knows her, SHE WONT GET IN. it's not the town, it's the personal connections. If you don't understand that I'm sorry for you.

Top tier is not as exclusive as it way maybe 5 years ago. More girls from small towns and suburbs are joining sororities in general "just to try it" for fun or for sisterhood. That means quotas need to rise. The girls from exclusive neighborhoods and camp have always been big on Greek Life, but with growing quotas, that means that sororities have to expand their search beyond their traditional recruiting grounds. That means they need to be more open to girls who they do not have close personal ties to. You can be unknown and still get a bid as long as you're pretty and smart and sociable.

But yeah, if the only thing "above average" you have going for you is "character" and "how much you reach out to others" then you won't catch the attention of top tier.

Let's be real here. Sororities are social clubs. Top tier is defined by popularity. If you want character, go to church.

I'm a PNM & I'm not Christian... so you're going to judge me on my religion? Wow I guess sorority life isn't for me...

SJW alert. If you're going to be so trigger hair sensitive, then good heavens, please stay away from my sorority. Bless your heart.

Just want to point out that being from a certain high school can also work against someone. If girls used to compete in high school for same guys, status, etc. or maybe their moms really don't like each other --I've seen where an active may not want that girl in her sorority. So it's not always an automatic thing.
