fraternity reputations?
by: PnmIf you had to describe the guys in each of the big fraternities in general how would you do it? Are they really that different from each other?

Fiji - exclusive, hangs out with DDD, KKG, and XO almost exclusively. Bids almost purely off of zip code/financials, so they take in the "elite" but also a lot of nerdier types. If you don't come from money you won't fit in with them at all. Their parties aren't that great and they're not very social but most girls would love the opportunity to date one just based on how much money they know they have. Mostly smart, academic types. Doesn't have a real fraternity house and their property is the furthest one from campus.
KA - wealthy, conservative, very "southern." Lots of oil money. A bit of a redneck reputation but most of these guys come from places like Highland Park, Memorial, Alamo Heights, etc. and just like playing the part of a good ol' boy cause it's Texas A&M. You don't have to be rich to get in but you probably won't fit in if you're not. Throws big parties and is loved by sororities. Girls are all over them. Things are definitely changing though. They've run into a lot of issues and they don't seem to have anyone willing to run their own fraternity these days.

That's actually probably the most solid interpretation of A&M's fraternities that I've ever seen on here

Looks like someone got pissed about the descriptions for Sig Ep SAE Delt Beta, and payed to have them removed. I remember those being super on point

Fijis/KAs may be chosen by zip code but they don't all "have money" nor do all the girls from those same zip codes in KKG and DDD. A high school doesn't define your parents income BC not everyone has a large house and $$ at each school..... but the stereotypes are ones y'all obviously fall for and those top tier Greeks love it. Know many that have no dinero and weren't even popular in high school so maybe it's a fresh chance to be cool. See if they invite you home......
They are just trying to play the same games their parents do on trying to keep up and fake it. Doesn't mean they are happy by any means.
Post another pic of perfection on snapchat or insta to show everyone u are happy. Don't always fall for it.

I went to school with the kids who try hard and live in the suburbs and talk about how much money they have because they go to the richest school in the area. the kids at my high school were try hards. they were not nearly as well off as people in other areas but since their parents didn't put much into property investments, they came out with nice cars and clothes.
I live in one of those neighborhoods mentioned now (hp/memorial/westlake). the people in my new neighborhood, while aware that they are better off than most, don't care much to flaunt it since everyone they know has money. everyone has it so they know it isn't a defining factor in who you are. in highland park even a TINY lot is gonna run you a million dollars, so saying they don't all have money is a bit naive.

Honestly, anything outside of the top six is a waste of time. Better to go GDI. If you're a pledge and you are pledging outside top 6, it's not too late. Just drop at some point and go through rush again. It'll actually be to your credit that you dropped out. They'll understand that you got fooled during rush.
