I think it's important to note the racist rhetoric in a lot of people's comments on this page. NPHC sororities and fraternities exist. Just because you haven't seen them at your latest date party doesn't mean they don't exist/do well on this campus. Some of these NPHC orgs have prided themselves on true community involvement and still know how to have fun. Check them out. Rush process is more detailed and selective, but worth it. It's a lifelong network of sisterhood and brotherhood.

Tamu hates greeks and actively discriminates against them. Its bad for the sororities, they are super uptight because of it, but its horrible for the frats. I see guys in frats literally getting gray hair from dealing with the stuff tamu puts up, and working like hell to make up the slack. You see it in all sizes of the sorority and frat chapters here too, it affects everyone

sorority rush is very very competitive. a lot of girls got screwed on the rush process during the fall bc lower sororities would rank every girl high just so they could reach quota. no srat hazing at all. greek life isnt a majority but it sure feels like it walking through campus.

Super competitive regarding girls. Frats invite whoever most of the time. I feel like the sororities are a lot more relevant than the frats.

Largest rush in the state of Texas for girls. Not sure about boys. Very selective and difficult for girls.

Sorority recruitment is highly competitive here. Every PNM has great grades, scores, and activities. Tons of PNMs drop or don’t get bids at all. Greek life only makes up a small percentage of the student population you have to consider this is the 2nd largest university in the nation. You will love it if you are fortunate enough to receive a bid. TAMU Panhellenic did a horrible job with recruitment last year. Hopefully they’ve learned from their mistakes.

for the frats, there’s a clear distinction btw the 3-4 bigger/top houses, the mid houses, & the small/bottom ones but no matter where guys end up they’re happy (depends what u looking for) still not as huge of a vibe as uark/bama type schools tho

Sorority recruitment last year was a nightmare. Panhellenic had some staff turnover and totally shat the bed so a ton of girls dropped or never got a bid. Cue spring rush for most chapters. Truth is the scene these days is competitive & anyone going thru recruitment this year better be prepared b/c if it’s all virtual it will be who u know, where u went to HS, and GPA. Numbers will matter more than ever & u need to know it won’t b personal if u don’t get a bid.
