Texas A&M University College Station - TAMU 3.0 Speaking mainly about frats here. Housing is below average as there's no frat row, and frats have a much smaller presence on campus in comparison to other schools in large part due to their negative reputation in the administraion's eyes (though this appears to be changing). Hazing can be pretty rough, as SAE made national headlines like a year ago for it. Still, due to the size of the student body, A&M greek life is very large numbers wise.Even though men's orgs are big, there's over 2,000 dudes in frats.

Texas A&M University College Station - TAMU 3.5 I think it's important to note the racist rhetoric in a lot of people's comments on this page. NPHC sororities and fraternities exist. Just because you haven't seen them at your latest date party doesn't mean they don't exist/do well on this campus. Some of these NPHC orgs have prided themselves on true community involvement and still know how to have fun. Check them out. Rush process is more detailed and selective, but worth it. It's a lifelong network of sisterhood and brotherhood.

Texas A&M University College Station - TAMU 3.0 Tamu hates greeks and actively discriminates against them. Its bad for the sororities, they are super uptight because of it, but its horrible for the frats. I see guys in frats literally getting gray hair from dealing with the stuff tamu puts up, and working like hell to make up the slack. You see it in all sizes of the sorority and frat chapters here too, it affects everyone

Texas A&M University College Station - TAMU 3.5 Super competitive regarding girls. Frats invite whoever most of the time. I feel like the sororities are a lot more relevant than the frats.

Texas A&M University College Station - TAMU 3.0 Greek life isn’t a huge percentage of the population, but remember this is the 2nd largest school in the nation. Sorority recruitment is very competitive. The TAMU Panhellenic seems disorganized and often confused. They messed up formal recruitment badly last year. The sororities all seem reputable, really not a bad sorority among them. They are very involved on campus. Over all it’s a positive experience, but if you are not in a srat/frat you aren’t really missing out.

Texas A&M University College Station - TAMU 3.5 I like greeklife at a&m but I want there to be more frat houses. Only a couple are worth going to and fraternity row is nothing. If we had a huge frat row I'm sure greeklife would be more involved here.

Texas A&M University College Station - TAMU 3.0 It’s very below average here which sucks for someone who wanted a better Greek experience. The guys are not chill but there are way too many fraternities like only a handful actually have houses and the rest are very sub par and struggle to make numbers and get money. There should be way less frats and the fraternity row is honestly sad. Put the money and guys in the struggling frats into one. Spread way too thin. Parties would be better, philanthropy would be better, general involvement etc. sororities are better because their row is put together and there aren’t so many of them that they struggle as much. It feels like everyone is in debt and the members are sub par. Too many rules that take the fun out. Guys haze a lot and girls haze less but there is some. Not all sororities haze but some do very lightly. It’s honestly fun if it’s scavenger hunts and other similar activities but it can go too far. The rules are really dumb in some areas and really lax in others. They need to fix this . Overall worth the experience but needs major improvement

Texas A&M University College Station - TAMU 3.8 Not nearly as good as other SEC schools but getting better every year. Lots of potential for growth but the school itself (unlike Arkansas, Bama, ole miss) is pretty anti-Greek because of the Corps and all of the Freshman Leadership Orgs (FLOs) that are largely promoted instead of Greek life. But because of FLOs being more of a freshman year thing obviously, a decent amount of people rush their sophomore year instead. There's a sorority row but no frat row which sucks, even the sorority houses arent ALL that great. Lots of off campus frat houses like Fiji , Delt, Sigep, SigChi..and only relatively close one is SAE (Which also has the best house besides maybes sigchi). If you're interested in rushing, go for it and try it out. It's not "looked down upon by majority of campus population" - there's just too many different orgs to join and around 60,000 students , all in a predominantly anti-Greek / pro-corps campus
