Please read this! It's important!!
Before you go on reading through all these posts and writing off certain houses and getting your heart set on others, please realize that none of what is said on here is 100% accurate and it is important that you go with your OWN gut feeling during recruitment. There are some organizations that are more highly regarded, however each sorority is special in its own way and I promise you that no matter where you end up, you'll absolutely love it if you give it a shot. Fortunately/unfortunately there are over 1000 girls going through the rush process making it pretty competitive. Not everyone will get into their first choice and that's OKAY! Each sorority is rich in tradition and it's hard not to fall in love with it once you're in. I didn't get a bid from my first choice and now I can't imagine myself anywhere else. The process DOES work. My advice is to experience recruitment first hand because it'll be more magical if you don't have pre-conceived notions going in. Ask any woman from any of the 12 sororities and they will whole-heartedly tell you the same thing! Overall, It's an exhausting week, but it is completely worth it once you run to those letters and are surrounded by SISTERS!

If it is all about SISTERS, then why won't you take people with below a 2.5?

Here is the thing. Sorry to say but asking for a high school GPA of 2.5 is not asking much... If you can't even get a 2.5 in high school then TCU is going to be very difficult for you, I am surprised they even let people with such low a GPA in. The reason there is a gpa requirement is because being in a sorority requires a lot of time and that can be very difficult on new members since they are new to this environment. It can be very overwhelming. Also we are very competitive with our grades and we want girls that can help us get to the top. It's a harsh reality but there are a few sororities that don't even consider anyone with a gpa lower than a 3.0. But at the end of the day sisterhood is what matters the most to us and we decide to give girls a chance that we believe can live up to our values

Personally I have a high GPA and I'm not one of the posters above. But your comment is very rude and frankly unChristian. There a lot of reasons a person can have a low GPA: 1) Maybe there was a death in the family and they got depressed 2) The person has a learning disability 3) They themselves were ill and couldn't do their best.
Rather we like it or not, TCU is a diverse school and there are several people that get admitted with a lower than 2.5 gpa. It is the Greek's system's prerogative to exclude them, but it is their right to complain about it.

Spend more time studying and less time whining. You don't belong in a sorority with that kind of GPA.

@frog above. There are lots of people here that didn't get high GPAs in high school. Why do you think this is Harvard?

If you couldn't manage a better GPA in high school, you won't be able to handle college work and the time demands of a sorority. You're not special. No one is going to make an exception for you now or once you get out into the real world. Grades and success matter. This is a good life lesson. Learn from it.

Wow! I'm speechless. Who says things like that? Newsflash - we don't go to Harvard or even UT. A lot of people do come here with lower GPAs. That is what it is. Maybe someone got a low GPA because they stood up to a bully teacher, or many other reasons. GPA is based on one's ability to kiss up and not much else. Lots of people come here and do better than high school. That is why this is a special place.

Ummm she might end up as your "sister." All she has to do is take a bunch of easy classes this year get a descent GPA and get in as a sophomore. Not a big deal. Relax. Life it too short to be so uptight. You are trying way too hard to make this school something is isn't. This is a chill school for people who want a fun chill atmo.

Naw, I wouldn't worry about it. She won't make grades at TCU either. You can tell she has a bad attitude. Excuses and entitlement.

I did. When I was in her shoes I had a low HS GPA. Brought up my grades and got a top tier. I will graduate next year with honors. Don't count people out, because of your narrow view.

I had a 2.7 in high school. When I rushed a few years ago, they didn't verify high school grades. I was told to bump it to a 3.5. I did and I had a perfect rush. Well, I now have a 3.7 in college. Loads of people do better in college because they are taking courses that interest them.

If your judging people by their high school GPA you are really sad. Steve Jobs had a low high school GPA

I wonder if he knew the difference between "your" and "you're?" That's a grade school level grammar mistake you're making there. No wonder you have such a poor GPA.
