The size of the freshman class will not lessen your chances of receiving a bid because the chapters will enlarge their classes. Competition will be up again with the numbers of top rate students. Remember you can find friends in any chapter so be polite and receptive to any group. If you do that receiving no bid at all should be close to impossible.

Getting dropped entirely from recruitment is a rare occurrence. It's likely girls were rude to houses they thought were beneath them so no one asked them back since the houses they thought they wanted didn't want them and they messed up with the ones who did. Just be your best to all houses and you will be fine.
