Online it says the average cost of a sorority is about $2,400 is that per semester or per year ?

Yes but remember you will likely be paying for t-shirts and random things like that which add up over time. Some houses include 5 meals a week in that cost while others include 1 per week. Sororities also love to fine you for every little thing. Just speaking from experience
