by: AgainMay not realize this in interactions within Greek life because its so White but Penn is majority non-White. It is 42% white, 58% non-White. If this does not UPSET you then you either a) dont understand statistical bias or b) are deficient in compassion

a disproportionately large percentage of the Greek population is white = bias towards white people during rush
Yes but does bias mean racism ? Or can there be other reasons behind the bias like maybe it’s bias towards school athletes which happens to be a largely white population?

I'm in a mid/ upper mid fraternity here. I can tell you we don't have quotas, but we also don't cut kids purely based on race. We get a majority of our members from kids who come around. In our case, how do we do better at attracting POC to join? I feel like we've done a decent job (especially compared to other organizations in my opinion), but how do we do better? How can we better stimulate the interest of POC joining our fraternity? Because we are limited to people who are interested in us, and in my experience, that group is predominantly white? I'm not trying to be defensive or accusatory, I'm genuinely asking for help.

imo apart from A's (New England), Castle, Owls and Zete (internationals), no other frat has tried to develop their own brand like no ones trying to be the all-American frat. everyone in the T1/T2 is simply emulating A's or Castle which is fundamentally my argument for the existence of folks who think white = elite which is such an old and outdated idea

Lets also not forget that there are 13 intercultural greek organizations that are not part of the IFC that are actively recruiting specific minority groups each year. A number of these groups have been on campus for 100 years or more with strong alumni networks and national brands.

crux of issue is most poc have had to deal with a lot of childhood racial exclusion and on-screen hollywood stereotyping which all deal a blow to confidence. frats (And some sororities) HAVE to make an effort to show they are tolerant and culturally aware or else poc are going to avoid greek life like they would a home with the Rebel Flag on it regardless of what kind of good meaning ppl live inside
