houses

by: Types

Obviously this does not go for every house, and everyone should have an open mind the entire rush process; you never know what house you fit into until you let yourself take in each one with a good heart & attitude. That being said, each house tends to have a type/personality, there's some form of commonality that gives a house a connection among each other (for the most part). The girls from my high school went into the above houses & I'm trying to be as honest as possible with their type/descriptions to give girls and idea of what houses (again, usually) look for or who they take.

ΔΔΔ - these were upper middle class to fairly wealthy, went out fairly often but weren't exactly crazy, pretty-gorgeous, on homecoming court a lot, and were mostly brunette (not sure if that is relevant). Most were nice.

ΚΔ - lots of cheerleaders, I've seen competive on here and I agree, usually pretty but more of an all-American vibe than pageant-y. These girls were on homecoming usually, but not necessarily super nice. Stuck to their group & weren't focused on academics. went out often

ΧΩ - all the ones I know who went this house were legacies, as in their moms, sisters, aunts. grandmothers, and cousins were all in this house at Ole Miss. Upper middle class. Not super girly but probably on the more popular side. Ranged from average to beautiful. More quiet & were in national honor society or multiple clubs. Ranged from super nice to stuck up. Pretty sure they still partied a decent amount

What, the one or two girls you knew in each sorority? Please!

We totally do not care what you think!

what she said was accurate. Idk if she was only basing it off the girls she knew, but it's correct.

KD, not nice?

What is the op hoping for a bid to KD, because her comment was not necessarily nice!

This was my personal experience seeing what the girls in my school went, as we have had a large percentage each year attend ole miss. I wasn't trying to be mean but I wasn't trying to be exclusively complimentary, just explain what I have observed. Of course it's just my opinion & there is way more to the houses than this, but like I said, birds of a feather (not saying good or bad) tended to flock together. Houses have types, that is what the founders intended; they all have their own values and history. Every house has and needs variation, too much of the same thing prevents growth and isn't healthy or realistically possible. Again, however, girls recruit their friend groups, usually friend groups have a common link, therefore it stands to reason sororities would reflect that. I simply pointed out that KD girls at my school weren't the nicest. I didn't say they were mean girls but they weren't very open to new people and weren't the first to make you feel comfortable in a social situation. I'm not apologizing for stating my experiences with them. There's plenty of amazing girls in the house & I didn't discount that. This is greek rank take what is said with a grain of salt & relax.

^^^^^ agreed. The top tier houses all tend to be not very accepting to outsiders. It doesn't mean that they're mean, the top houses have tons of really sweet girls just like all the other houses. But it is also my personal observation that they just kind of stick to themselves and people like them, not people outside their friend group.

My question is directed at the op.

Are you a pnm? An active?

You seen to know an awful amount of sorority knowledge. You say you know each sororities "type" and what each of there founders intended.

In reality, you sound an awful lot like an older alumni who is pretending to know what girls are like in each house.

I'm an active. Like I said a lot of girls from my school went to ole miss and currently attend Ole Miss. From the girls who were a few grades older to my senior class this is who went where. I'm not an alum living in the past, I just wanted to share what I've seen. Maybe it's a little too general but that was what my disclaimer was for. Your opinion is probably different. That's fine that you disagree but I don't question your college status because of what you experienced. I may be in one of the houses above, I may not. I can't think of hardly any girls at my school who went Pi Phi, Theta, or DG so that's why I didn't mention them (I can't provide an opinion on them so I chose not to include them because that would be unfair). I've been around all the sororities now and can't really say my opinion has really changed as to their overall type, but I have seen the others around campus now. I'm not going to comment about them because again, this was just my high school and who I knew and where they ended up.

Oh and just wanted to address what the founders intended comment. I don't know any of the founders intentions besides my own and our own rituals etc...but I do know each sorority has their own founders and they created unique rituals (that's kind of common knowledge). So their values (while most overlap) are their own. The various founders chose their letters, colorsx symbols, motto, crest, and all that for their own reasons and values, if they didn't we would all have one sorority.
