out of state students
by: olemiss
This is the loneliest I have ever felt in my life, the night before orientation. I literally know 0 people and campus is a ghost town.
does the feeling go away? is it easy to make friends here? Are you happy with your decision you made to Ole Miss? Does being in a sorority make it easier?

The feeling will definitely pass. There are lots of incoming freshman in the same boat. I was one of them. Only knew a couple of people at ole miss. Orientation was lonely at first but I did make friends in my orientation group. There will be girls in your group who don't know anyone either. You might not go out during orientation and make a ton of friends and that is 100% okay. You will make lots of friends when you move into your dorm. Your roommate will be your lifeline until you meet the girls living around you. The girls I met in crosby are still some of my best friends. In the month before rush you will make tons of friends who will end up in all different sororities. It is very exciting. Make an effort to go to the union with your dorm mates. Rushing a sorority will help you make lots of friends. If you're lucky, you'll have girls on your hall who are also in your sorority. This will make going to the first sorority events easier. You will make friends on bid day. The monday after bid day, you will walk into class and see that more than likely, you have sisters in your class. Sit with them if you previously sat by yourself. Make an effort to attend lunch at the house. Make new friends at chapter, etc. There are so many ways on campus to meet new people. But dorm and sorority are the best.
