extracurricular activities

Are there more extracurricular activities at Ole Miss rather than just greek life? I want to go greek, but I also want other options just in case I am not happy going greek or don't get into a house at all. I have been told that there aren't many other clubs and it is just centered around Greek Life?

I'm just nervous because I am going to be 12 hours away from home and I am scared that I won't have many friends :/

There are tons of other activities! During orientation you will learn about tons of clubs! There is an entire student activities organization that organize way ore activities than any sorority does!

okay! i was really scared about rush week not going well for me and then I heard that and went into panic mode because i find a list of student activities on the ole miss website. I am happy to hear differently!

Don't count yourself out of rush! You will do great and end up in the perfect house for you!

Ole Miss is an amazing place and everyone is SO nice! I am over 8 hours from home and had a great freshman year. You should do fine with rush also, just focus each round on the houses that want you not the one you get cut from! No I didn't get a bid from the big houses, but got a house that really wanted me and I love! Good luck and Hotty Toddy!

I know they say not to do this, but I really want Phi Mu or Kappa. I have amazing recs for them. I truly hope I have a connect with the actives prior to rush week and during. I would be delighted to accept a bid from any of the houses. Tiers don't matter to me, fitting in and having a home away from home is what I am looking for in a sorority. I never had a big group of friends growing up, so being in a sorority would kinda be like a dream come true.

How can you possibly know that you want phi mu or kappa without getting to know the other houses?

And please don't tell me that you have read all the advice on this website and listened to all the tent talk around campus and on other blogs! You have to see for yourself.

phi mu and kappa are my legacy houses. That is why I want them. However, if the situation arises where they cut me, then I will be okay. then it wasn't meant to be and I don't have to wonder.

I had to move a lot in HS, so I did not have any close friends at all. I thought the same thing as you, will I make friends? You just have to put yourself out there!
I made so many friends in my sorority! Don't get nervous! Put your best foot forward!

The best advice I can give you is this:

If you want a friend, you have to be a friend!

Go in with good intentions, get involved in as many activities as you schedule allows!

You are going to have a blast!

Make your mark on campus! You're only here for four years and even one year goes by extremely fast!
Do what you want to do and be friendly! You will make friends :) I promise.

My sorority, along with other sororities require their members to be involved in at least two other organizations either on campus or around Oxford.

You will be involved with any number of organizations!
