How often do PNMs not accept bids?
I remember reading further down on this thread that if a PNM rejects the bid for whatever reason, then they take the next girl on the list?
If I understood that correctly, does that happen often?

I read the same post. I think what the op meant was that girls will chose another house
Remember, most pnm's will pref two houses. If both houses have her on their top list, she will go to her first choice, thus freeing up a space in her second choice house and allowing someone else the opportunity to take that spot.

If a girl rejects a bid, she does not get to choose to accept one from another house. The way it works now is on pref night after a girl has gone to her two houses, she ranks those houses #1 and #2. #1 is the house that she would most likely want to be at the next day (bid day). #2 is her next choice. Sometimes girls "suicide", meaning they only list a number one house and not number two.
After the girls rank, it is matched up with the houses' lists and most girls end up getting their number ones on bid day. Then there are some, who are not high enough on a house's list to get their number one and therefore get their number two house on bid day. It is guaranteed now that a girl will get either her number one or number two, so there is not crosscutting.
However, if a girl suicides and isn't ranked high enough on a house list she might not end up in any sorority.

I forgot: so if girls are rejecting their bids from a house maybe because they got their second choice, the sorority may then give out what are called "snap bids", sending bids back to girls who were cut from rush earlier on. However, if you are receiving a bid from another house, I don't think you are eligible for a snap bid, even if you reject that other house's bid.

You are confusing people with your snap bid bs!
If a girl receives a bid from a house, irregardless if it was her first choice house or last choice house, and irregardless if she accepts that bid or not, she is ineligible to receive a snap bid from any house. Rumors fly every year about certain houses trying to "steal" girls away from other houses on bid day, but this is totally false and could NEVER happen in any situation.
Once bids are handed out there is NO WAY to receive or accept a bid from another house. Period.
Snap bids would be handed out in secret BEFORE bid cards are handed out. If a sorority fails to meet quota, they can, but don't have to, go back to a girl who was released from recruitment and offer her a bid.
If you are released from recruitment, meaning no houses invited you back before pref night and you were dropped from recruitment, you could still receive a phone call the night before bid day and told that a house has issues you a snap bid. You won't know which house, and you will show up with all the other pnm to receive your bid.
This is the only way to receive a snap bid. Once bids are handed out, it's too late!

Also, if you drop out of recruitment because you didn't like the houses you had left, or if you don't maximize your options and suicide one house, you are not eligible to receive a snap bid.

Ive seen girls break down and cry after bids are handed out because girls don't get their first choice house. Rush week is hard and emotional and it really takes it toll
But, for most girls, they take what they are offered and make the best if it. Even theta is fun!
It's usually Mississippi girls who drop out or don't accept bids.

Also. You do see girls reject bids, but this will occur on bid day when bids are revealed. This won't affect the bid lists any. It just means that that house just lost a new member.
