Every sorority is different. We can't reveal our sororities voting practices. All we can do is generalize. EVERY HOUSE WILL BE LOOKING FOR SOMETHING DIFFERENT!

Many sorority members don't have a lot of say in any of it as their alumni advisors pick their priorities and bid lists.

Instead of doing percentages because all sororities are different, I'm just going to put them in order from "most needed" to "ehh, not really that big". This is just the GENERAL opinion. Sororities can disagree on this. Here we go:
1) Rec Letters/Activities/Resume/GPA- No one can give you a bid without one, no matter how much we love you! This is also for headquarters and alumni who are looking over us during rush. As for the resume and activities, we know your GPA but we want to know if you were involved. You were on a team? We like. You did charity work? Lovely. We do a lot of stuff for our sororities and we want girls who will participate.
2) Connections/Personality- I put these together because it's important to have connections, but if enough girls don't like a rushee's attitude then she's gone. Now if you don't have connections but an awesome personality, you will be an active's "rush crush". This works for before rush too! Plenty of time to meet actives!
3) Alumni support- Important, but you really have to have poor grades and a risqué Facebook profile to NOT have support. Know an alumni? Sweet, girl! We can still cut you if you're personality stinks.
4) Letters of support- I honestly don't know what this is, my house doesn't use these, but as far as I know everything above this is more important. I think you can live without one (ladies in different sororities, feel free to disagree!).

Terrible advice! Completely off base! Are you even in a sorority??

Do you even go to ole miss?

I agree that this is bad advice! No one sorority can tell you that what they are looking for is what everyone is looking for!

This question is just setting everybody up to receive bad advice.

In MY sorority here's the order of importance. (I am in a top tier house)

1. Rec letter - without one we can't give you a bid.
2. Connections/alumni support/letters of support. - these all go hand-in-hand
3. Looks/personality. - do you fit in?
4. Gpa - not seriously important unless you have below a 3.0.
5. Résumé / activities.

I think it is important to note that gpa's are not as important as everyone thinks they are unless, as this poster states, it is below a 3.0.

Remember these are social sororities and not academic sororities! Yes, we compete for highest gpa's on campus, but we also compete in powder puff football..... And dodgeball.... And other activities. And those activities on your résumé don't count for all that much either!

Grade risks are an entirely different story! We don't want our national headquarters to suspend our social privileges because girls can't make their grades.
