Do sororities consider looks and personality at the end of the day during the rush process over connections

looks and personality help a ton BEFORE rush. when we meet a cute girl who's super sweet, we begin to rush her wayyyyy before the week ever starts. when it's rush week and time to cut girls, connections are the only thing that will pull you through. sure we want pretty girls in our pledge classes but we also don't want a bunch of random girls that we don't really know running to our house on bid day.

to make that a little more clear, being pretty and outgoing is great. but it won't help you one bit if nobody personally knows you or has a connection to you.

I wouldn't say that personality doesn't matter during rush, it totally does!! The girl rushing you might totally get a girl crush on you and will bat for you while they're voting for girls! Personality is important!
For instance, if you have a bad personality with a friend in the sorority, other girls might bring you down on the bid list. If someone doesn't want you in the house because you act like a b i t c h, it doesn't matter if you had connections.
During rush, you should put your best foot forward and smile! We love girls who seem like their interested!

"Image" is what my sorority looks for in a girl. We want someone who presents herself like a lady and, even if she's falling apart on the inside, keeps herself looking put-together, putting her best "self" out towards the world. A gorgeous girl could walk into a round but if she resembles a slob who doesn't own shampoo, that's going to hurt her a lot. A girl who might not be as beautiful (i feel like this sounds mean & terrible but I don't know how else to say it) can walk in and leave a much better impression if she shows how amazing she is through the way she is dressed and how she acts.

It's rush week, so you're going to put on your best "image" no matter what. That's a given. Don't worry so much about your looks (if a sorority cuts you based on this, they are scum and not worth your time). Focus more on telling the sorority what you can bring to them, all while looking like the young lady you are, making sure they know how beautiful you are on the inside!

Wear a nice dress and heels. basically, just make an effort to look like you knew you had something important to do that day. It's a way to distinguish who really wants to be there and who is just going through the motions and doesn't care.
