recs/support

by: Incoming Transfer

Hello all!
I am currently in the midst of getting all of my letters of rec.

Do I need to submit letters of rec AND letters of support?

For example: Right now I am working on Delta Gamma. I found a website that has their email for requesting recs. If I get one rec for all the houses will I be in good shape?

I know being an oos transfer my options are limited.

Technically all you need is one rec for the sorority to issue you a bid, as per most sorority national rules. However, this is ole miss! Girls have been collecting recs and support letters for years now in preparation!

The answer to you question is that yes, one will do, but your options will be limited during rush. Especially if you got those recs off a general website and not from ladies who actually know you! There is a little box on most rec forms that state whether or not the rec writer knows the girl personally. If the writer does not know you personally, your rec will hold little to no power.

okay, so I have been struggling to find people to write most of the letters. I have some people I know personally but for DG, Chi O, Kappa, KD, ADPi, Theta, I don't know people personally. I have tried looking at local chapters around me but there is no contact information and on the sororities website it is for the alumnae to fill in :(

I really want to be apart of rush week :(

Keep looking, but be quick about it.

Ask your moms friends, your teachers, your friends moms, you grandmothers, their friends, your parents co-workers, ladies at your church. Aunts? Ladies you babysit for? Leave no stone unturned.

Between my mom, my grandmother, my aunt, and a handful of ladies at church I was able to find multiple letter writers for just about every sorority. Teachers and friends parent helped fill in the blanks.

Maybe they don't know you personally, but maybe they know your family.

Seriously, unless you live under a rock you should be able to find more than enough letter writers without having to find random strangers on websites!

@keeplooking

your right! My next question is that would it be okay to look at open groups on facebook regarding to alumni of sororities?

I've seen a few people who weren't alumni ask but I was too scared because I don't want to get blacklisted or be considered "weird" :/
