Start sending them now. No later than May.

Started sending my "rush packets" out to the women who were writing my rec letters in May. Each ole miss sorority has a different deadline for rec letters. Most are in July and some in August. If you start sending the packets out in May, the women writing your recs will have the entire summer to write your letters and send them to the sorority.

Such bad advice! Here's the deal: most large cities have Panhellenic associations. Find one close to you! These Panhellenic associations will have some type of spring event like a luncheon or fashion show or round table. In my city this takes place in February. They will help you! Do not get your advice from this website!

In my city they told us to start lining up recs immediately after their February event. They told us how important it was to get your packets in before classes let out in may! The idea is to get on the sororities radar early. Pretty much all of the top houses already have preliminary lists done before classes end. Lists are started during our spring rush workshops that start in march! We will try to rush our favorites all summer long. If you wait until our deadlines, chances are we won't have heard about you before classes start in August, and you are highly likely to be cut after first round!

Start lining up your recs now! In my city, after may 1st, the ladies are ready to go on summer vacation with their families and are less likely to want to take the time to write a rec!

Yes, as a matter of fact, I am from Texas. Are you insinuating that we do things wrong? I rush last year and had a near perfect rush, only being dropped by one house (that I know of). I preffed three top houses and ended up in my first choice.

I'm so glad I got all my packets in early!

Also for the record, I had exactly one rec for each house (chapter alumni when possible) and multiple letters of support to back up each of my recs.

It all worked for me and I was just an average pnm.

You will hear all kinds of stories from girls who claim that certain sororities were rude to them during rush. The truth is that those girls sent their rush packets in late and we didn't have the time to get to know them prior to rush. We weren't rude on purpose, we just didn't know how to connect with them and honestly we all had our favorite "rush crushes" already picked out that we were completely focused on.

Do your self a favor and turn in your packets early! Start lining up your recs now! That way we can get to know you and recognize your face before summer! We will have more than 1500 girls walking through our door the first day of rush, you will want to stand out!

I personally wish I would of started sooner. I didn't think I would be able to rush due to some home issues so I waited.. Come to find out I could rush and didn't have my letters in till about August.. I was cut from some of my top picks and I assume it's because my letters were late! DO NOT HESITATE! START NOW!
