new rankings

by: Fallen Field Goal Post

The Tier system at Ole Miss has changed this fall more than it has since the 1980's. Here is what I believe the new rankings are. This is just my personal opinion. If any of you have a non-insulting question about why I think this is the most accurate ranking please ask it in an objective manner. These rankings aren't based on historic ranking and previous reputations. Its based on what happened during last semester, rush, and outlook on the future of the organizations.

Fraternities
EX, EN, KA
Phi Delt, KE
ATO, PIKE
Phi Psi, Beta, Sigma Pi
SAE, Phi Tau, Delta Psi
PKP, Chi Psi

Sororities
KD, Chi-O
Tridelt
DG, Phi Mu, KKG
Pi Phi, AOPi
ADPI, Theta

Again if you a comment or a question please be objective with it.

How do you know what the "rankings" were in the 80's? Is that when you were in school?

I have many family members and know lots of older people who have graduated from Ole Miss.

I sent this post to my mom who was at Ole Miss in the 80's. She thinks your list is fairly simular to what houses were popular then too. She did say PDT and Pike would have been considered top fraternity houses then. And that XO, DDD, KD, PHI MU and KD were top sorority houses.

Meant to say PDT, Pike as well as EX, EN, and KA as top fraternities.

Hope you are ready. You are about to get assaulted by the OOS poster who spews hate on any post that list so called Mississippi houses as top tier. What they have failed to realize is that these houses have changed with the times too. Just look at the size of the pledge classes since the 80's. These houses are full of great kids from Ms. And OOS too.

Sigma Nu and Kappa Sig were considered middle tier in the '80s.

EN has been a top house since at least the 70's. They have had strong alumni support and excellent chapter advisors with Dr. Gene Perry and Dr. Davis.

...correct...Sigma Nu had alot of OOS+MS rednecks...KA seemed to pledge guys from TN and KY...Kappa Sigs were wild... top fraternities were PDT, SAE and EX...there were good guys in every house...no different than today...top tier sororities then are still top today...

SAE was a strong delta fraternity in the 80's but starting their decline. PDT and PIKE were strong Mississippi houses then. Times change.

In the '80s, Pi Phi, and Theta and Kappa swapped with EN, KA, SAE, ATO, Pike, and EX.

Theta, Kappa, and Pi Phi used to be considered the good out-of-state houses. Theta took a nosedive and AOPi moved up after ADPi and ZTA closed.

Are you sure about this I don't mean to start anything but I know DDDs always been top tier and from many I've heard it's always been number 1 here

I really don't believe there is a number one. It all depends on what your looking for and where you are from. Some sororities and fraternities are stronger in some hometowns than other hometowns.

DDD is a top tier and has been a top tier sorority for decades. (No I'm not a DDD).

One good (or bad) pledge class won't result in a tier shift. The only thing that knocks a chapter from top-tier is some HUGE crisis (SAE 10 years ago...) or they get kicked-off campus. It's takes a lot of effort for any of them to NOT get good pledge classes. Doesn't mean the other OM houses aren't good. They are good. But top-tier (sororities) are the same ones year after year. Won't change with one or two pledge classes. Just doesn't work that way.

Sororities haven't changed much through the years but fraternities have
PDT down a tier
SAE down two tiers
Pike down two tiers
ATO up a tier

Another poster hating on ddd. Why stop below xo and KD? How about we move the best house on campus all the way down to the bottom!

After all. After centuries on top, all it took was one girl making a stupid mistake to bring down 110 years of exceptional women.

Yep.

Maybe if you were basing off the pledge classes this year but it didn't change the tiers
