cut

by: Rushee

I was a double legacy phi mu and was cut after the 2nd round. The Greek system at ole miss doesn't understand what kind of hurt that puts on a family when a double legacy is cut. My mother is hurt, my grandmother is hurt as am I. The Greek system should seriously look at the person instead of grades or test scores. Take the fun and exciting people who want to do good in the chapter and bring out leadership!! No one should drop double legacies. Give the legacies a chance. THERES A REASON WHY ITS CALLED LEGACIES. SO THAT IT CAN BE HANDED DOWN TO GENERATIONS

Just because you are a legacy does not mean that you are perfect for their chapter. There are lots of girls that might not be legacies that will find their home at phi mu or any other house for that matter that will fit in so well. You end up where you are supposed to be.

I am so sorry that rush did not go as you expected and trust me there were legacies cut from every chapter and I know the hurt runs deep! Hope you will give whatever house you get a bid from a chance-this is your chance to start a new legacy! Hope tomorrow will be a fun day for you and you find happiness in your new home!

I am going to a different house tomorrow and I'm more than excited. So it happened for a good reason!

You brought up grades which leads me to presume yours weren't up to par. If you had a good GPA and were a double legacy, you'd have something to complain about. (imo) The greek system didn't let your mother down or your grandmother, your grades did apparently.

I was a triple DG legacy and was cut last year. I ended up in a house that was way better for me and have never looked back. Yes my mom and grandmother and aunts and great aunts and cousins were all upset, but they were happy that I found my home where I fit.

Sorry to disappoint you, but YOU don't get to tell sororities what their membership policies should be. It was extremely clear from the very beginning that grades are one of the most important parts of your resume. No grades may mean no bid. I hope you do get a bid somewhere on Sunday and that you are happy there.

Sororities do look at personalities! I'm sorry you're not getting the house you wanted, but as a legacy who was cut from chi o last year...it does get better. I love my sisters!

Grades are only one thing sororities are looking for. Personality and the way you interacted with the actives was far more important.

Were you the person who was the "huge grade risk" legacy?
